To All Decendants of Norm and LuJean Carver:
We are having a family reunion and a celebration of their Alma Mater, Utah State University. Jean and Norm graduated when it was still Utah State Agricultural College, Jean with a B.S. in Science, Agriculture and Home Economics in 1945; and Norm in 1949 with a degree in Agronomy. Check out these great yearbook pictures of Jean in the Buzzer 1940: AWS Council, Senior Class Portrait, Senior Spotlight, Chi Omega Sorority. As a side note, the guy on the spotlight page with Jean (Burns Crookston) used to be Rose's neighbor in North Logan! Many of their children and grandchildren, including their spouses, have also attended USU--this will be a great chance to visit the campus and reminisce some great memories.
When: Saturday, June 20, 2009
Where: Logan, Utah. Please be ready to meet on the Utah State University Campus in front of Old Main for family pictures around 10:30-11AM. There will also be separate pictures for family alumni. All alumni will be given "game-day" T-shirts to wear in the picture (spouses included)! You need to let Rose know your shirt size, or she will guess and you will just have to live with it. There will be plenty of parking in the Parking Terrace.
What: Typical family reunion festivus. We will have pictures and time to walk around the quad. If you are interested in taking a tour of campus that can be arranged, please let Rose know you are interested. After pictures, we will have a potluck picnic lunch/bring your bucket of KFC-type of lunch at a local pavilion. There will be LOTS of Aggie Ice Cream to go around! Bring your elastic waistband pants! In case of bad weather, we will be headed to the Agriculture Systems Building to have lunch in the "high bay" with some very large tractors and combines--very exciting for children. More information to follow as plans are solidified.
Why: We haven't had a family reunion for a very long time. We are so very excited to host it in this special place. Put this event on your calendar--you won't want to miss hearing about the Carver's college days!
Additional Information: Don't forget that Sunday following is Father's Day! What a great way to celebrate with family. Also, Logan City will be having Summerfest downtown at the Tabernacle all day. This is a really fun event where local vendors sell their arts and crafts. It's a neat time to visit the downtown area. AND the Logan Aquatics Center will be open. If you have kids and swimsuits this is a great place to unwind before heading home. It is inexpensive--don't forget they have two tall tube slides for the brave!
